At first I was confused then I read on and I remembered people without color are racists- a caveat not all white people are without color. I wrote about people without color a few writings back. If you have the time to comment on my thoughts- I would be interested in your thoughts.
This reminds me of the FIRST time I witnessed real racism as a young light brown latino- and it had nothing to do with me. My second mother, the woman who saved me from the street life was Black, Mary. That is not the story maybe someday I will write that one.
One night she decided to invite me to Denny's in Hollywood Ca. where I grew up. Of course I said yes and off we went happy and enjoying our time talking about the neighborhood etc.. We got there and it took 45 minutes to get seated- finally we were seated.
We ordered and continued our conversation it wasnt really registering on how long the waitress was taking until Mary stood up walked over to the Manager and had words.
She came back and I asked her what was wrong. She asked me if I had ever waited that long in a resturaunt before- it hit me like a bull dozier. No I hadnt.
She smiled and said that was the life of a Black person in America.
The next thing that happened I am not proud of and will not write here- though it was also the first time I experienced rage and acted on it. I loved Mary she saved me - how dare anyone treat her in nay disrespectful way. I let it be known.
The world is full of people without color Fthem.
