Bold thought and request.
Practicing theories and concepts definitely has value but I would think if there were "labs" dedicated to those minds wanting to go further after normal "school" this could be more effective.

Students who show interest in math go to math lab, music music lab, sports to sports labs 😊
students that are interested in mechanics, carpentry, computers on and on.... make labs the the after school activity.

Teach the basics before lunch and leave the rest for labs.

Just a thought what do I know
