Everyone should own a dash cam at this point IMHO that records to the cloud- scams are happening everywhere. I froze and credit locked my ssn many years ago- last week it finally paid off.
After purchasing a car from an online source - I will withhold the name because I have no proof the Co. is involved - after providing proof to the delivery person and filling in the registration which required my ssn (my spidy insects screaming don’t do it) with in 10 hours I got reports from my credit bureau that criminals were attempting to use my ssn. All of it was stopped and no criminal got my identity. Phew that 29.95 a month paid off. It also looks like my ssn is now off the dark web- why ? because criminal customers get pissed when the numbers don’t work. So the bad actors scrub protected ssn off.
Of course they could always do spot checks and see if I ever release my ssn and credit- I wont. In fact now I have it so only companies I approve can look at my info if and when I need them to.
I reported the incident to the company but not much can be done. I am not even mad at the employee I am fairly sure I know it was her- I think she is just trying to make it in a difficult world.
I have a report of the person and his info that tried to open an at&t account - that is what these criminals dont seem to understand- they can be tracked. I have FBI friends they are gonna ruin this persons day- feel bad but not really.
We have to fight back no fear.
