HG the fact that you have issues with an author respecting the wishes of a human to choose how they are identified is a window into your own dogma. Authors write - read or dont your comfort is not prerequisite. The pronouns used tell us much more than you are seeing actually what they had to endure with a society that sees them as less and not worth reading about.

I myself was challenged with the pronoun application and had to look deeper into my experience to understand the community that uses them. They them he she it we us are all looking for empathy and not sympathy search your heart - your gods are watching.
