Well, you are almost there - It's not guns that are part of our culture it is killing. We like killing stuff like the rest of homo-sapiens only difference is we are experts at it. We decided that guns won us this country and to keep it we better be "the best" at killing.

Learning to hunt for food is not the sport, learning to kill is the sport.

Our culture is simple- at least it was pre 45; Speak softly and carry a friggin huge armament of guns bombs and technology that will bring you to your knees in horror if you dare to say we aren't number one.
